Warren Bennis (Los Angeles, CA), born in 1925, is an American scholar, organizational consultant and author who is widely regarded as the pioneer of the contemporary field of leadership. Bennis is University Professor and Distinguished Professor of Business Administration and Founding Chairman of The Leadership Institute at USC. In 2007, BusinessWeek called him one of ten business school professors who have had the greatest influence on business thinking. The Financial Times recently named his classic book Leaders one of the top 50 books of all time.

In December 1944 I was the rawest second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, a 19-year-old shavetail trying to keep my platoon (and myself ) alive as we pursued the retreating enemy into Germany.
Greetings friends, and welcome to my first website. You might think it’s rather late in the game for such a first, but then, it took me more than 80 years to get around to writing my memoir. I have always expected another adventure around the next bend which I didn’t want to leave out. As I wrote in my memoir, Still Surprised (with Patricia Ward Biederman), I was shocked by the success of my first published attempt at storytelling, back in my undergraduate days at Antioch College, and even now I’m quite gratified that people continue to be interested in what I have to say. So thank you for coming here to learn more. Of course, this is more than the chronicle of one fortunate man; it’s filled with hundreds of colorful characters who’ve taught, influenced, and inspired me along the way. I hope you enjoy those stories as much as I have.
